queen mary

Shopping bag from fabric designed by Duncan Grant for the Queen Mary. His design was rejected. Ancient Industries have brought back some of his lost designs, including 'Queen Mary' (1936), above, and 'Charleston Grapes' (1932), below.

welsh tapestry

I bought a sort of gorgeous, sort of vile Welsh tapestry handbag from ebay (where else?). Orange. Brown. Hmmm. But it works. The colours and patterns of Welsh tapestry are quite gorgeous. Their bold colours are nicely balanced by their very rigid patterns.

Canvas 'Birkin' inspired shopping bags
(the ultra-realistic image is screenprinted on a canvas bag):

Edit (3/5/2011): Hermes are suing another company 'inspired' by the Birkin
(Thursday Friday's US$35 bag).
